Se hicieron tambien experimentos muy interesante y con resultados muy positivos para desinfectar el agua con hornos solares
(180°C):
Pilot study of water disinfection using solar concentrators in rural communities
- Abstract: The efficiency of solar disinfection for the inactivation of Total Coliforms (TC) and Escherichia coli (EC) in drinking water was tested in two pilot studies performed in rural
communities of the States of Chihuahua and Oaxaca, Mexico. The solar disinfection of drinking water (or photodisinfection) is an inexpensive alternative for easy application in rural communities.
The study zones were selected mainly because they lack formal water supply systems and the population is forced to consume untreated water directly from rivers and shallow or artesian welis. The
efficiency of the water disinfection process based on solar energy was determined in the dry and rainy seasons with water from the most contaminated sources in the study zones. The performed
tests consisted of studying the effect of disinfecting water by direct exposure to sunlight during the whole day, with and without solar concentrators, in plastic bottles of commercial beverages.
The three types of bottles used were transparent, partially painted black (one half of the bottle, along the longitudinal axis), and totally black. The study shows that, in these geographic
zones, the available water must be disinfected before consumption, and disinfection efficiency can reach 100% through the use of solar radiation.

PARABOLIC DISH DEVELOPMENT IN MEXICO

Abstract
(...) Parabolic Dishes are particularly interesting as autonomous systems for their use in Mexican rural areas for small scale of electricity production, water pumping, ice production, and
seawater desalination, among other applications. The technology around the world is in the development stage at the level of industrial prototypes and offers advantages for its potential
production in Mexico. The Mexican parabolic dish is in the last construction stage and it is expected that in few months can be integrated with all its different components and to carry out the
first operation tests. The concentrator is 7.5 meters in diameter and with focal length of 4.5 m. The reflective surface consists of 12 facets made of fiberglass with a reflecting surface made of
thin-glass (1.0 mm) silvered mirror. The system will use a 9 kWe Stirling engine to produce electricity from concentrated solar radiation (...)

Mexico's Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) issued a Request for Proposals in March 2002 for a 250 MW
gas-fired combined cycle plant with an optional integrated parabolic trough solar field of at least 25 MW electrical output. The incremental solar costs should be covered by a
grant from GEF. As
investor’s response to this concept was very limited, it was decided in 2003, that an EPC scheme with CFE as GEF grant recipient should be pursued. The solar field would no longer be an option
but compulsory. In 2005 the plant location was changed to Sonora State and it was suggested by CFE to double the combined cycle size from 250 to 500MW.
